The Coach From Within Is One That Do Not Except Excuses.
I thought I would share this little story with you. Maybe it will sound a bit strange and maybe it won’t. I will leave that up to you to decide.
I would like to take you back to the days that I was at school. Okay, it is not that long ago, don’t want it to seem that I am on the ancient side of life here.
But it is quite a while ago. The time that I am referring too is 1986. At that time I was 10 years of age and in grade 4.
But before we get to that story I need to….
Painting A Little Picture

Maybe I should paint a little picture for you with regard to when I had to enter upon my school career. I never went to preschool.
I can honestly say that I was a l little bit advanced in my way of thought at that time in more ways than one.
My parents took me to school for enrollment in December 1981 because I turned six years of age on the 8th of September 1975.
The principle at the time was Mr. Pieterse. Arrangements were made for my parents and I to visit him prior to my enrollment.
Call it my kind of job interview since I would have to go to work at school so to speak in acquiring my education until grade twelve.
The big day arrived and I went with my mom and dad to the big interview with the principle.
I can remember looking around in the office at the desk with all of its many papers which was neatly stacked on the side of the desk while my dad and mom were speaking to Mr. Pieterse. I could not help but notice, the grey filling cabinate with drawers labeled with letter A-D all the way through to Z.
Funny thing was that at the time I knew it was a filing cabinate but I did not know anything about the alphabet yet.
If you have gone through the about me page on my website you would know by now that my dad repaired clocks and watches as a hobby and that we had a sizable antique collection at the time.
Although I did not have great knowledge at the time with regard to the skills and related knowledge for going to school, I was extremely knowledgeable in knowing the Bible. By age six I had gone through the Bible twice already, growing up in a very religious and loving home. My mom and dad would read to me and that is how I gained the knowledge with regard to the teachings in the Bible.
Where Did I Spend Most Of My Time As A Youngster?
I spend most of my time in the company with adults and adult conversations so my English was quite advanced for a Afrikaans youngster of my age group.
What I maybe lacked in the areas of being ready for school, I made up for in mental development in other areas.
To get back to my “job” interview. Mr. Pieterse handed a pencil to me and asked me to draw a couple images on a piece of paper.
It was shapes ranging from circles, rectangles, octagonal shapes, different patterns etc.

He was maybe more amazed then I was at the fact that I did not even know how to hold the pencil correctly much less know how to put the pencil to paper.
He looked over to my parents and said: “Your son is not ready for school.” He does not even know how to hold a pencil yet, or how to draw.”
He went on to say that he would give my parents a worksheet to take home and for me to go through during the December holidays and then when school reopened in January 1982, I would have to come for a second interview and do a test to see if I would be coming into consideration to enter upon attending his school.
Great, so I missed out on my first supposed to be holiday working while other kids my age was having a ball.
One Of My First Mind Set Realizations
Anyway, I looked at it in this mindset. They worked a couple years to acquire the skills before in preschool when I had the time of my life playing, staying at home with the attention of my parents and having fun with my pets.

I use to give shows for my dad’s customers with my pet budgies which I made tame and taught tricks. I had my own little circus complete with trucks which I had my dad tie together with string.
Then I would have my birds ride on them while pulling them along the passage to the circus location which was in the lounge. The tent was a couple chairs that I spaced apart with a blanket over them.
My lighting for the tent was a couple battery operated flashlights with different colour plastic attached over them fastened with elastic-band.
Hey, we are drifting off the topic here a little bit but it should give you an indication of where my interest actually was at the time. Having fun, being creative out spoken not shy to talk to people since I was conducting shows for strange people in the form of my dad’s customers etc.
During the December Holidays
So during the December holidays I had to spend my time doing things that I had never done before in my entire life to acquire skills that other children learned over a period of 1 or more years to get ready for school.
I had six weeks to learn what they did and acquire the skills to do it with. The only thing that I had going from me was the mind set to learn and my mom and dad as guiding coaches.
My advantage at the time would be one of being open minded with the right mind set and attitude to want to learn.
I put the time and effort in diligently to work through the information that the principle gave to my parents and my mom and dad helped me along, more my mom I would say because my dad had work to do although he worked for himself being an entrepreneur.
He use to tell me that if one wanted to get somewhere in life you have to work for yourself and work with your hands. Working for a boss was not in his vocabulary and it somehow rubbed off on me too.
The Big Interview Before Attending School And Entering The System
January 1982 arrived and I had my first exam to pass even before I was in school, this exam would determine entering my school career or to wait another year before entering school.
I did not intent working an extra year without pay if I did not have too, hence I never failed one exam in my school career.
I think the sentence above provide the answer to the outcome of my first exam.
The principle was amazed at the amount of progress that I made being able to complete all of the tasks with flying colours.
I learned in six weeks what would take other kids a year or more to learn.
Don’t get my wrong, I am not writing this to make it seem that I am special or something, that is not the point.
The point is to give you a little background to my kind of personality and the way that I developed the mind set that I have today.
When Does Your Mind Set Start To Develop?
Your mind set or way of thought start to from at an early age and from the type of influences that you have at that age and throughout your life time.
At the time my influences were from my parents and being in the presence of grown up conversations but not conversations about sports for example, it was educational type almost philosophical conversations that enlightened my 6 year old mind creating a different thought pattern or way of thinking.
Interesting Memory That Came To Mind
To let you in on another interesting memory that came to mind. At the age of six I was in my bedroom standing in front of my wardrobe mirror, dressed in my school uniform and a thought came into my mind.
What thought would you think that it could possibly be?
If you think back to your childhood right now and you think to a specific time where you were standing looking at yourself in the mirror what thought just came to your mind?
Think of one thought that stand out from all the rest. What would that thought be?
Hopefully it is not something like, o my goodness, I have a giant pimple on my fore head. I am referring to a significant thought that could be life changing to you, that would alter the course of your life to become who you are today or who you wanted to become today.
Well for me, my thought while I stood in front of my mirror was: “I wonder what I am doing at the age of thirty five? I wonder if when I am thirty five years old, whether I would think back to this day, thinking of myself at the age where I am standing in front of my mirror at age 6.
Note, I did not wonder what I would be doing but: “I wonder what I am doing”.
Do you know what the most bizarre or strangest feeling was that I have experienced? At that moment at age 6 I had an experience of actually visualizing myself at age 35.
I saw myself at age 35 in my mind.
Can I share something even more extraordinary with you. At age thirty five, not on my birthday but in January roundabout the date that I started school in 1982 a thought for no apparent reason popped into my mind.
I thought back to that very special moment at age 6. Is that coincidence? I do not know but it was pretty remarkable and an experience that gave me goosebumps for a couple moments.
Always Knowing What I Wanted To Achieve
I always knew what I wanted to achieve and set out to achieve them. Strangely enough, excelling in school was not one of my top priorities since my dad told me that he would not send me to college for a higher level of education.
So I did what I had too, to at least keep my grades average. If some of you are students that read this. I highly recommend that you give it your all. Education is definitely a great asset to have.
I just chose to become an expert in a different field on education. The education that create millionaires and in how to build a profitable business using the keys that rich people use by using leverage and systems to attain great wealth. This is not the kind of education that you learn in school though.
Having A Clear Plan For Your Life
I had a clear plan for my life with different goals that I wanted to achieve which again was influences from my dad.
Have you perhaps went into a direction in life with regard to your career choice based on what you parents do or entered into a similar career as a result of influences from other people other than from your parents?

We are all like little bonsai trees when we grow up. Bonsai miniature trees grow in their own way in the wild but some bonsai little trees are shaped and trimmed to the way that they grow by a loving caring person that guide them with tiny thin wires and pruning them from time to time.
Well since my dad was an entrepreneur and did not work for a boss, I wanted to do the same.
He repaired watches and mechanical clock work mechanisms as a hobby and form of income and I helped with doing that since an early age. I was his apprentice if you would call it that and gained all my knowledge and skill from him who had 40 years experience in fixing clocks.
So one of my goals were to be able to fix clocks one day.
It came to pass and still do that as a hobby.
I also wanted to be knowledgeable with regard to the Bible and that I had already in place. Not to turn this into a religious post but one lesson that I learned, that my dad pointed out to me was the fact with regard to the people in the Bible.
He said: “There are a lot of stories about people in the Bible that have made some mistakes, what you have to do is learn from those mistakes.”
This was the cornerstone to adopting a mind set of not only to learn from other peoples mistakes but to also learn from my own mistakes.
Adopting A Mind Set Early On

I adopted a mind set of visualizing what I was going to do first before doing it, kind of anticipating making a mistake and making the changes not to end up making that mistake.
I actually got upset with myself if I made a mistake. I always looked at the outcome, the result of my actions before I took action.
When I did take action it was 100% committed, there was no hesitation or wasting time, I was focussed with the end result in mind.
I did what I had to do to make the reality align with the visual image that I had in my mind.
Kind of sculpting my life developing the skills needed to make it materialize.
This was the development of the coach from within.
You Have This Ability Too
We all have this ability you know, it is just a matter of discovering that coach from within by becoming a bit more aware of your thoughts that you have on a daily basis and the kind of stimulation that you have too.
So now I had the goal of becoming somebody that wanted to be an entrepreneur, never to work for a boss fixing clocks like my dad, being knowledgeable with regard to the Bible.
A lot happened at the age of 6 years, the reason for this was greater influences from going to school mixing with other kids and school activities.
Bad Experiences Happen To Everybody, It Is What You Do That Count
The next part that I am going to share with you is maybe something that you can relate too. I had my share of a bad experience too you know that I carried along with me for many years. Again it was a mind set issue.
In the first term of school the school had a gala. Bearing in mind that I had never been in a swimming pool before in my life at the time.
The closet that I got to swim was having a bath with my rubber duck.
Yes, I had a rubber duck. Without my pal rubber duck. Bathing would sort off not be the same as I am sure that you can imagine. Boy did we have some fun times and splashing on the floor too. Not a lot of splashing though, just a little.
I loved my toy hippopotamus that had a little duck attached with a retractable string. Once you pulled the little duck out of its mouth the duck would be retracted back to the hippopotamus and at the same time while the duck retracted back into the hippopotamus mouth, the hippopotamus would wiggle its legs and swim forward. I had great fun with it.
At least the hippopotamus toy could swim.
The day of the gala arrived. We were all lined up and moved forward to the edge of the pool after each line got started in the race with the sound of a bang.
I had a look at what the other kids were doing and thought that swimming is a breeze.
The kids merely jumped in, moved their arms and kicked.
What is so difficult about doing that. I thought to myself, this is easy I might even come first or second.
Needless to say the crab hit the fan soon afterwards.
I was up inline to jump into the pool at the sound of the bang.
Bang!
I leaped into the pool for the first time of my life, not knowing how deep it was but hey, if the other kids can do it and they are not scared why should I be, besides the entire school is around the pool, surely if something would happen help is right at the side of the pool.
When I made contact with the water I realized that water can be hard too. Like Bruce Lee said that water is one of the softest kind of things in the world but yet it can penetrate rock.
Yip, I found that out the hard way. I took a gulp of water upon impact. When that happened I opened my eyes under water.
That was a first in its own right and by the way, I did not like it. So I shut my eyes and started to move my arms and I kicked like you would not believe.
I thought that I was at the other side of the pool already.
Strange as it may seem, nobody even noticed what experience I was going through.
I had in my mind that I should continue to just move my arms and kick until I reached the other side.
Well I did reach the other side alright, just not the other side that I had intended. I did come first too you know.
First to reach the bottom of the pool still kicking and taking in gulps of water every now and again.
When I reached the bottom of the pool I suddenly realized where I was. For a moment in the twilight zone, I did not have a clue where up down north or south was.
I reached rock bottom and decided to stand up, which was when another thought popped into my mind. Would I be able to get out on my own?
Fortunately for me when I stood up, my bottom lip was just above water level.
I got out whiter then white. Needless to say I was not very enthusiastic to enter a pool again.
Yet when we had our period for physical exercise and we had swimming that day, I would enter but I would stay along the edge where I could hold on to something that I knew was secure.
Sense Of Security Can Hold You Back From Reaching Your Dream
Many of us have this same kind of mind set when it come to starting something new that is unfamiliar, we tend to hold onto something that we are familiar with and lack that confidence to let go and just to jump in to take charge and learn new skills and have new experiences that could lead to greater potential and a different life style that many dream to have but through this mental block refrain from taking that leap of faith.
I took an interest in tennis in 1984 and had professional tennis coaching at school. I loved to play tennis. But it was not one of my aspirations to excel at.
Tennis was just something that I enjoyed doing.
Then in 1989 I took an interest in karate. Boy was I passionate about that. I trained 4 to 6 hours per day. Sometimes even until midnight. Especially during the high school career.
One of my other aspirations was to teach karate. At the age of twenty I taught karate to juniors as well as adults.
My dad had a dojo build on our property and I started to teach privately as well.
Over the years as you can imagine my parents grew a lot older. My dad was 48 and my mom 44 years of age when I was born.
Another Passion Of Mine
My other passion that I have is to help people.
I took care of my parents until my dad passed away and I still take care of my mom who is 80 years of age at this point in time May 2011.
At the age of 26 years I had achieved a number of the things in life that I wanted to achieve. Some maybe not great achievements to you but in my reality at the time they were achievements that I set out to achieve and achieved them. That is what matter, setting out to achieve something however small and achieving it.
I also endeavoured to write my dad’s biography which took me eitght months to complete. At that time I hardly knew how to turn a computer on much less create a book. I learned and implemented new skills that I never possessed before. Skills in editing photos, doing page layouts, creating back ups to the work that I did, resizing photos. I even translated some of the chapters to English because the book was originally in Afrikaans.
My main focus was to preserve my dad as I knew him. We were very close and writing his biography was more a healing proses and for me to mature into the unique person that I am today.
Realizing That Small Achievements Add Up To Great Achievements
If you can achieve something small, nothing can stop you from achieving something spectacular. It is the mind set that is important here.
I had one of my quite moments and made a remarkable discovery that I have conquered a couple achievements and have overcome a number of obstacles in achieving those obstacles, yet one big obstacle still was in my way.
I had never learned how to swim.
I spend hours training to be proficient in the martial arts learning teniques to perfection being able to teach others to improve and to conquer their fears and here I was still having one thing in my life that I have not conquered. I even painstakingly taught myself how to do the splits spending 4 to 5 hours per day stretching, reshaping the elasticity of my leg muscles and tendons to the the max.
At that time I was super fit.
The Decision To Eradicate My Last Obstacle
I decided to teach myself how to swim.
I got a costume and went to the public pool at 6am in the mornings to go teach myself how to swim.
Needless to say, I did not jump in like I did at the age of 6. I got in slowly and the water was cold.
I went along the edge of the pool to check the depth of the pool. In the middle it was 1.75m deep and at the ends it was 1.5m deep.
Once I assured myself that I would be able to stand in the middle of the pool, I got started in coaching myself.
I watched other swimmers take to the water like penguins, leaping in and gracefully glide through the pool length after length.
I decided to let go of the safety of the edge of the pool and stretched my arm out. It was the decision to boldly let go of years of fear without holding somebodies hand.
This was eradicating the mind set time of I cannot swim to: “I can swim!”
Little Achievements Add Up To Great Achievements
All the years of achieving other achievements lead upto this point where I had the courage to look my fear in the eye, face it and conquer it.
The fact that I saw other people swim added to my belief that it is possible for me to do it as well. I have two arms, two legs the same as they do.
The only part that I lacked was the skill in doing what they do. This is true in anything in life. If you duplicate what successful people do and you acquire the skills that they have, surely the result will be that you will be able to have the level of success that they have too.
It was an Olympic pool, 50m in length.
I tried and tried for two weeks and managed to swim a quarter of the length of the pool.
I noticed out of the corner of my eye an elderly gentleman watching me in the mornings when I entered upon my quest to conquer my fear of water.
I must add that after that initial letting go of the side of the pool and gradual improvement in the distance that I could swim, my level of confidence jumped with leaps and bounds. There was no more fear present. I had a new focus which was to reach the opposite side of the pool which was 50m away.
The Turning Point
About two and a half weeks went by with trial and error and then suddenly the elderly gentlemen called me to come to him.
He said: “Son, what are you trying to do?”
I said: “I am trying to teach myself to swim.”
So he said: “O, is that what you are trying to do. Well I am a diving instructor for more than 20 years and if you can be at the pool at 6am sharp I will give you some pointers.”
I thanked him for the offer and made sure that I would be at the pool at 5:45am in the mornings. He gave me pointers and handed me a pair of flippers to practice with as well as a board to practice my kicking.
He pointed out to me how to correct my stroke and breathing.
Before long I would swim 500m, then I evolved to swom 1000m and then I evolve to swim 4000m which was 80 lengths of the pool.
One thing that a person should take note of here and it is a very important fact to take note of, is the fact that I kept on consistently implementing and doing what the gentleman shared with me. Practicing consistently and repeating to myself what he shared with me made me enhance my swimming ability.
My main focus was not speed, it was endurance and to be able to swim a great distance. After all, if you can swim 100m with in 15 seconds and then you are pooped, it will not help much if you fall in the water when you are 2km away from solid ground now would it?
It would only mean that you could swim a hundred meters fast before drowning, right?
So being able to swim a great distance was more important to me.
Finally there were no more blocks in my mind with regard to achieving anything that I decided to put my mind on achieving.
Again this was the coach from within in the sense that the gentleman that gave me the pointers did not baby me. He told me where the areas were that I needed to focus on improving and all the time that I would be swimming I would be checking on what I was doing and aligning it with what he told me in how to do my stroke and when to breathe in conjunction with my arm movements etc.
I made mental notes of what he told me and stored them in my subconscious and conscious mind.
I would dream how I was swimming. I had similar dreams with regard to other areas of my life too with regard to fixing a clock to doing my business as well as when I right blog posts.
This was true with regard to my karate training, tennis, school work and later in my network marketing career as well.
It dawned on me that you can only go so far doing something on your own. You will reach a certain level of success but you need to have somebody with greater experience in what you want to excel at to be able to achieve the level of success that you aspire to have.
Somebody that can inspire you, guide you and show you a different way of getting you to the life style that you want to have.
Success is not an accident, nor has it got anything to do with luck.
It starts with a decision similar to the decision that I had to make with regard to letting go of the safety of the edge of the pool to eradicate my fear of water.
Then to reach out and accept help from somebody that you never met before with skills and mind set to help you reach your dreams if you are teachable and have the desire to learn new and sometimes things that you have never done before in your life, new experiences and to develop skills that you never knew and realized that you had. Skills from a totally untapped side of yourself that you never even knew existed.
Does that not sound exciting?
That is what I discovered over the past 6 years or so of my life and what I share with people.
The people that decide to take a leap of faith to enter upon a journey that set them free from safety nets in life created from life experiences and influences from people all around them and negative stimulation from what they read and listen too in the news on a daily basis.
You must have heard this before. The most powerful thing on earth is the power of the mind.
People Lack In Taking Note Of This Significant Fact In Their Life
What people lack to take note of though is that the power of the mind is dictated by the power of your consciousness that guide your mind and the thoughts that you have.
The amazing thought that came to mind was the fact that you can alter your subconscious through the conscious and by raising your awareness to capture your thoughts by analyzing your thoughts.
Having a look at how you react in certain circumstances and pondering if you had reacted differnetly in that particular circumstance and what the different outcomes would be if you had reacted in a different way.
These different outcomes with regard to your reactions could have lead to different realities.
Then to actual when something similar happen choose which way to react with the best outcome or result.
Imagine that in fact this was possible that every variation of your reaction actually does exist and that there are different variations of you actually living out those realities.
One of your realities being somebody like Donald Trump. What is there though that is keeping you from making Donald Trumps reality your reality starting from today?
One big key factor is not having the knowledge that he has and knowing how to build million dollar businesses. What if you could acquire the same kind of mind set and knowledge?
Do you think that if you know how to build a million dollar business and acquired the skills to do it that you would be able to change you life style?
This would lead to a different reality through your power of choice and level of desire to acquire that reality and to make it materialize.
A New Field Of Interest
This might be a bit above some of the mind sets of people that read this but you must admit that this is quite interesting.
Why is it that some people become billionaires and the majority of people do not?
Would you say that it has something to do with their way of thinking?
Would their way of thought be different to the way of thought from the poor or average person?
This made me curious and I just had to explore this newly found field of interest.
Have you perhaps read the book: “Rich Dad Poor Dad” or the book: “Think And Grow Rich”?
Well, truth be told, just thinking alone does not make you become wealthy. Doing and implementing consistently what rich people do grow wealth and it would not hurt to have a mentor that can guide you step by step to do so.
A success coach so to speak.
This is what my latest quest became for the past 6 years. Not just acquiring wealth but to help people in their quest if they are the kind of people that want to live life leading a life style that they want.
People that want to be part of the 1% of the world that want to live life while they are young, go places, do the things that make life fun without time limitations because of work or limitations due to finances.
The kind of people that have the desire to be able to retire and lead the life style that they want.
We are all born free, why is it that we give up freedom to trade time for money, imprisoning ourself for a lifetime to survive instead of letting go of the safety of job security when in fact having a job is not secure and will not bring you into the 1% bracket where you have time and financial freedom.
I am no longer curious my friend because I have made the discovery, the secret to changing lives, if you are curious, teachable, and prepared to do what it takes to eradicate old beliefs like:
I need to have a college degree to earn substantial income
I need a job to pay the bills
I don’t have enough money
I cannot have this that or the other.
I am destined to live the way that I am.
Who told you this anyway? Take control of your thoughts and change them. Nobody can do this for you though. People like myself can show you the door to a new reality but you have to walk through it, believe and do.
You are the only coach that you will ever listen too. The coach from within.
If you are prepared to capture those thoughts and to ban them from your mind never to come back and you open your mind to a new set of beliefs:
I was born free
I am teachable
My destiny is not laid down in concrete
I can become and do anything that I want to make my dreams a reality, it is my God given birth right that I will not allow anybody, family, friends, work colleagues, take away from me.
Things can change but for things to change, I need to change
Realize that countless other people have done so, changed their life from rags to riches by making changes to their life.
Have you ever heard of Mark Victor Hanson, renowned author?
Ever heard of the books related to “Chicken Soup”?
Well my friend if you are ready for a journey to set your mind free and open up to an education of a different kind that will provide you with not only the knowledge of billionaires and millionaires but allow you to have a mentor to guide you step by step then jump into my pool without arm bands and let me show you how the big fish swim in the pool of wealth.
