Once you have logged in with your Skype ID and password, you will see various tabs at the top of the website. You can use the “Skype” tab to make certain changes to your account.

These are the options that you will have access too when you click on the “Skype” tab: On-line status, Profile settings, Privacy, Account, Buy Skype Credit, Sign Out and Close.

This is the options under each option.

1.  On-line status

On line - This setting is to indicate to your contacts whether you are available to contact with Skype.

Away - This will show that your computer may be connected to the Internet but that you are not at your computer at the moment.

Do not disturb - This will indicate that you are busy and do not want to be disturbed.

Invisible - This setting is for when you do not want to be visible to people on the Internet via Skype.

Off-line - This is self explanitory.

Set up call forwarding - This is self explanitory

Change sounds edit your profile

Link your Myspace profile

5.  Buy Skype Credit – This is for non Skype to Skype calls.

Skype is more than just a way to make a phone call, you can even use text messages with your Skype account.

This is how you would search for people on Skype.

You would go to the tab “Contacts” and then click on it. After doing this, you have several ways of locating the person that you are looking for.

You can search for their Skype Name, Full Name or email address. Apart from making use of this information, you will also have certain fields that you can fill in that will enhance your search results.

The fields that you can enter are:

Country/Region, State, City, Language, Gender, Age range

You can also enter contacts from your email address book if you wish too.

A feature that I like about Skype is the smart way to invite people to connect with you on Skype with a preset message that has your Skype ID already entered with in the message.

This great feature is located on the page where you would search for your contacts below the title: “More things you can do”.

If you do get stuck there is always the help tab that you can access for support.

I would advise you to check if your speakers and camera is working properly in synergy with Skype. You can do this by doing the following:

1.  Select the contact that you wish to contact by clicking on there name in the contact list on the left hand panel. A window will appear to the right of your contact panel with the contact details displayed at the top of the Skype site.

2.  Decide what call you are going to make by selecting Skype, mobile or office. Remember that Skype to Skype calls is free. Charges will apply to other calls. Now decide if you are going to call with or with out video.

3.  You will see a setting to the far right hand side of the Skype site called: “Check Settings”. Click on it and a drop down will appear with a few options for you to use that will enable you to check that your computer, camera and sound function is working correctly.

4.  The first test that you will be able to do, is to test that your microphone settings are correct.

5.  The second test is to test your speaker functionality in Skype.

6.  The third test is to detect your webcam or build-in camera of your computer.

7.  The fourth test, is to check that your computer speed is adequate to make the call or video call.

These tests can be done in random order, it depends on you to decide which test you choose to do first.

Once you have completed these easy steps, you are ready to make your call or video call.

You will see a box where you can enter text if you choose to rather chat with your contact as opposed to making a call at the bottom of this page where you would make your calls from.

Have fun with your Skype. Look around under the other tabs by clicking on them, you will find that there are a number of games that you can play.

If you are like me, I am more focused on using Skype to connect with people than to play games.

If you are building your MLM business on-line or off line there is one aspect that is applicable to what the next step is to grow your business and it is to make contact with your new lead or leads with in the first 24 hour period.

The best way to do this is via the telephone, but if you are building an International business your phone bill can go through the roof.

When you read this you will see why King Solomon said that we should learn from the ants.

I think everybody should study ants. After reading this you will have a new admiration for those tiny little insects.
There are mainly four philosophies to learn form our little friends.

1.  Ants never, ever quit. If they are on there way and something gets in their way, they will not stop but look for another way to get to where they intend going.

That is a fantastic philosophy if you think about it, to never quit and always search for a new way to reach your objective.

2.  Ants always think winter during the whole summer when food is in abundance. That is a very important perspective to have. One cannot be naive and think that there will always be abundance, so you need to make use of the time when things are plentiful. Summer will not last forever. So ants gather food for winter during middle summer.

3.  The third part of the ant philosophy is that ants think summer all winter. That is extremely important. During the winter, ants remind themselves that winter is only temporary and that it is not going to last long. So, they will soon be out of the ant nest on the first warm day to start gathering food again.

If it turns cold again, they’ll dive back down, but then they come out on the first warm day.  They can’t wait to get out. And here’s the last part of the ant philosophy.

4.  How much do you think that an ant will gather during summer in preparation for winter? All he possibly can.
You have to agree with me that this is an phenomenal lesson and philosophy to adopt in your business.

So how do we put the ant philosophy into practice with regard to overcoming this costly getting in touch with our leads?

We simply open a Skype account and connect with our leads via call, video call and the chat function for free. Now many of your leads may already be Skype users and this would make life a lot easier but on the other hand many are not and do not know how to set up their Skype account. Maybe you are one of them, so I would like to help people to be able to leverage from this amazing tool that you can implement in your business.

Firstly, you need to go to Skype.com and once the Skype site opens in your browser, you merely click on: “Get Skype”.
You will then be able to download Skype and you would have to complete the necessary information as laid out below during creating your Skype account.

Then you need to create a password.

Enter your mobile phone number and then the captcha and you are nearly done.

Send Skype information by e-mail:   Tick if you wish to receive updates.

I suggest that when you do open an account with Skype or any other account that you save your information in a file for easy access at a later stage and if you do follow this advise, that you back your information up on a CD or other form of storage device in case your computer give up the ghost so that you will not loose your information.

Another tip, is to make use of security software to secure your information on your computer so that it is not accessible by other people that could get their little nifty fingers on your computer compromising your information that is supposed to be for your eyes and access only.

Keep in mind that this article is going to be around for quite some time so things may change over time with regard to information required during opening your account but this is what you would encounter at this point in time on the 2 September 2010.
